When I heard about JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa’s holiday festivities, I knew I had to be apart of it. Honestly, they had me at twinkly lights and free hot chocolate–two of my very favorite things. Plus, I love taking Logan out to enjoy the holiday spirit. I know he’s still too young to remember it, but I enjoy making memories and taking pictures with my guys.
If you’ve never been out to the JW, you absolutely need to check out the JW Hill Country Holidays. It is absolutely gorgeous. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the grounds are quite vast and you’ll want to explore all of them because you never know what treats are around the next corner (Mmm… S’mores!).
Upon arrival, you’ll enter through the main doors where check-in and concierge are waiting to greet you. Lovely wreaths, center-pieces, and trees immediately grab your attention and warm you with holiday cheer. Follow the staircase down to find the many delicious places to eat: Cibolo Moon (a family favorite), The Crooked Branch, High Velocity, Rivertop Grill (poolside), the Replenish Spa Bistro (located at the Lantana Spa), 18 Oaks (located at the clubhouse), and even a Starbucks.
Due to JW Illumination going on, when we walked in we were greeted with a glorious hot chocolate station with more marshmallows than I’ve ever seen.We may have gotten refills. It was so delicious; piping hot with just a hint of cinnamon!
My hubby had a huge smile on his face as he and the little man (on the back–yay, babywearing) filled our cups up!
If you’re trying to figure out where to take your photos with Santa (pretty sure this is the real one) and Mrs. Claus consider JW Marriott! Pay $25 for up to 5 photos. Take advantage of this deal Saturday nights in the Texas Library. Formal family portrait available by appointment only, so please call 210-483-6647 for reservations.
For those staying at the hotel:
One of our big stops of the night was Range Riders Kids’ Club. Since Eric and I tend to go to the JW to celebrate our anniversary, we’ve definitely never been to the kid’s area. Not to mention, Logan hasn’t hit that magical age of 4 where he is able to stay there and play, but we were welcomed in with open arms by the friendly staff! Everywhere you looked there was some kind of holiday decoration and a few had even been made by the kids. Logan got to come down out of the Ergo carrier, walk around, and play with the adorable suitcase he was given–yes, there is a passport inside along with other goodies! Parents, if you’re going to stay at the JW, this is a wonderful resource! You and your significant other can have some much needed one-on-one time. Plus, it’s just all-around good fun for you kids. There are crafts, board games, and an xbox 360. Trust me, your kiddo is going to want to stay and play, which means you have time to head over to one of the amazing places to eat, or head to the spa and melt some stress away with one of their signature treatments.
Or, if you’re not hungry, but you want to relax, book a spa treatment at the Lantana Spa. The hubby and I had a full body couple’s massage for our anniversary last year and it was incredible! Right now they’ve got some amazing specials going on including the Texas Pecan Body Scrub, which is 50 minutes of relaxation and you’ll feel silky smooth at the end. Not to mention, you’ll smell fantastic.
Of course, if you’re just feeling like a small pampering, you can’t go wrong with a manicure or pedicure (maybe both). A twist on an oldie, but a goodie is the Hot Ginger Cocoa Manicure & Pedicure.
Don’t feel like joining the Polar Bear Club this winter? Check out the JW’s River Bluff Water Experience where you can swim all year round. The outdoor water park is completely heated! Except for one pool if you really do want to join the Polar Bear Plunge. If you care to take a dip at night, you’ll see the lovely lighted pool adding ambiance to your evening swim.
Whether you live here in town or you’re just visiting, JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa has something amazing for you and your family!
