A few days back I shared about how I’m making an effort to get out of the house more, stop being a “Hermit Mom,” and actively trying to socialize Logan since he’s an only child surrounded by adults. I figured the best way to do this was to find local toddler classes to attend. I stumbled upon The Little Gym while perusing Google and pleasantly discovered there is a location five minutes away from our house. Score! After just one class, I’m positive it’s just what Logan needs. He had such a good time, was really participating, and by the end of the class didn’t want to leave. Quite the turnaround from when we had arrived since he was begging us to put his shoes back on and get in the car.
I had so many proud mama moments during those 45 minutes. He was involved, engaged, picked up toys when asked, and warmed to his instructor quickly. He even sat in her lap, which for the parents of a super stranger-danger, shy kid is AMAZING to see.
The class itself is PERFECT for toddlers with short attention spans and wiggly bodies. They are free to get up and explore their new surroundings without fear of getting into trouble. Activities change ever few minutes so that the tiny humans stay entertained and don’t get bored. Everything is done with tons of energy accompanied by silly songs. My husband and I were surprised how much we enjoyed ourselves. It was a kick to see Logan in a different environment and it was good exercise for us since we did everything right along with him. Great bonding time! I highly recommend checking out an introductory class near you.
I’m very excited to say that we’ve enrolled Logan in the weekly Beasts class for the next two and a half months. I’m certain that he will continue to grow and hopefully even make a few toddler friends.
We still cannot get enough of The Little Gym. My husband and I find ourselves looking forward to our weekly class just as much if not more than our son. We love to watch him grow and develop just as much as he enjoys being there. I’ve come to appreciate our instructor so much! She is patient and fair. I like her style of teaching and I don’t think we could have a better one. I also love that they focus on a sign of the week to go along with their themes. Recently the theme was “Learning to Count” and we learned the signs for count, many, and more.
We have just three classes left before his “graduation,” where there will be a small ceremony to commemorate all that these little ones have learned.
The hubs and I have already agreed we can’t live without The Little Gym and will be enrolling Logan in next semesters classes. If I had to guess we’ll be going for the next year or two–maybe longer!
If you’re looking for a fun, but still educational place to take your toddler, I cannot recommend The Little Gym enough. They have multiple locations in San Antonio to fit your families needs.
